Family Circle, a staple of women-oriented home magazines, will shut down after it publishes its December issue, NBC reported Wednesday.

The magazine is owned by Meredith Corp., which also publishes Better Homes & Gardens, Martha Stewart Living, Southern Living and similar magazines. 

Family Circle was founded in 1932. According to its mission statement, the magazine aims to serve as "the roadmap for millions of women at a new point in their lives." Its digital readers are 73 percent female, with the median age of readers being 55. Its circulation is 4 million.
