Stephenville High School opened District 7-4A team tennis play last Thursday to Lampasas and fell by a slim 10-9 margin.

“Coming out of doubles we were close at 3-4,” SHS tennis coach Karen Greenhaw said. “We had some celebrations: Ella Shepherd and Charlie Hughes both won in the third set tie-break. We had big wins for first-time tennis player Kelvin Ong, returner Nirjal Upadayay, and our mixed doubles team of Dylan Jones and Shyla Smith.”

The SHS squad was scheduled to play Gatesville on Tuesday as district play continued.

“We have some things we need to work on, but we will be ready for Gatesville on Tuesday,” Greenhaw noted.
