SHS cross country girls 1st, boys 2nd in Burleson
Stephenville High School’s girls and boys cross country teams were swifter than most when they traveled to Burleson last Friday for their second meet of the season, with the Honeybees capturing the girls team title and the Yellow Jackets runner-up among the boys.
The Honeybees dominated, taking five of the top six individual places.
Amiah Rodriguez of SHS won the girls division, while teammate Seren Fowler took second, Lila Richards was third, Marisa Otero was fourth and Ansley Meza sixth. Also for SHS, Kenna Cashon placed 23rd.
Among the boys, SHS was led by Mitchell Pack, in third place overall, followed by Eduardo Juarez with another personal-best time to finish fourth. Next for the Yellow Jackets was Cullin Rumsey in eighth place, followed by Daniel Osornio in 11th place, Miguel Moreno 17th (personal-best time) and Cody Miller 18th.
“I’m extremely proud of our efforts this week at Burleson, almost everyone went out and ran better times,” SHS cross country coach Beth Phelps said. “What I am most impressed about with us this week is how we ran closer together. Last week there were some big gaps between some of our places and we talked all week about how we need to bridge those gaps.”
The SHS girls and boys were scheduled to compete today in the Glen Rose Invitational.
