The Yellow Jackets had a rough opening day Thursday in the Glen Rose Lions Club Invitational basketball tournament.

It wasn't an easy day for the Yellow Jackets Thursday as they began pool play in the Glen Rose Lions Club Invitational basketball tournament.

Stephenville, who is in a pool alongside San Angelo Central, China Spring and Saginaw, finished the tournament's first day with an 0-2 record.

In their first game of the tournament the Yellow Jackets may have been somewhat unlucky as they ran into a red hot shooting San Angelo Central team.

Early in the second quarter, after trailing 23-16 at the end of the first, both appeared to be near equals on the day. The Bobcats eventually drove their lead into double-digits, but late on Stephenville cut it back to nine. 40-31.

Unfortunately for Stephenville, Central's Isaiah Oliver and the rest of the Bobcats found their stroke from three-point range.

Central closed out the half on an 11-0 run, due in part to a couple of threes from Oliver, who hit a total of 11 in the game and finished with 51 points.

A majority of Oliver's points came in the second half where he scored 31 of Central's 53 points en route to a 104-53 victory.

Stephenville's day didn't get any easier in their second game as they fell to China Spring 77-41.

Stephenville is scheduled to play again Friday morning against Saginaw at 9:30 a.m. in their final pool play game.
