Jayci Morton goes up for a kill in Friday's win over Brownwood.

The Honeybees recent hot streak in district play continued Friday as they trounced rival Brownwood in three sets.

Stephenville had command of the match from the get go as Brownwood couldn’t keep up with the stout Honeybee offense. The first two sets weren’t all that competitive as Stephenville claimed them 25-16, 25-15.

The Lady Lions did play better in the third set as they pushed late. Brownwood cut Stephenville’s lead to only three, 16-13 mid-way through play. However, Brownwood wouldn’t get any closer than that as the Honeybees ended things with a 25-21 win.

Outside hitter Chloe Goodman led Stephenville with eight kills in the match, while Nicona Stilwell added another six and Taylor Garber hit four.

Garber also led the team in assists with 16, while Hannah Huckabee recorded an additional seven.

Libero Hailey Martin and setter Taylor Garber led the Honeybee defense with eight digs a piece.

The win was the third consecutive sweep over a district opponent since the Honeybees’ only district loss to Glen Rose.
