Kali Smith led the Honeybees with 20 points in Tuesday's loss against Brownwood.

It wasn’t the best of nights for the Honeybees Tuesday as they couldn’t repeat their first performance agains Brownwood from earlier this season as the Lady Lions squeaked by 61-56.

While the final score may not show it, the Honeybees essentially lost the game in the first half. Brownwood dominated the game and outscored Stephenville 33-16 in the first 16 minutes of play, including an 11-0 run by the Lady Lions in the second quarter.

When the second half began though, Kali Smith and the rest of her teammates weren’t going to go down that easy, especially to a rival.

In the final two quarters Kali Smith hit five three-point shots while Mikayla Hobbs added another six points as the Honeybees found themselves trailing only by eight with 4:40 left in the game.

Unfortunately, Stephenville ran out of time before they could complete the comeback putting them in a fight for second place in district 6-4A with a 3-2 record.

Smith finished the game with a team high 20 points, while Hobbs finished with eight. Skylar Chipman also scored seven points.

The Honeybees will hit the court again next Tuesday when they host Mineral Wells.
