Dublin middle blocker Whitney Weems goes up for a kill against Eastland Tuesday.

The Dublin Lady Lions fantastic season got a bit sweeter Tuesday evening as things appeared to moving on all cylinders in a  3-0 sweep of Eastland.

The Lady Lions jumped out to a quick a start in the first set as they took a commanding 13-2 lead while showing true volleyball skill across the court. Dublin eventually went on to close out Eastland in the first set 25-10.

The next two sets were a bit more of the same, however, Dublin did technically have to come from behind to capture the victory.

The Lady Mavericks rushed out to a 5-3 lead early in the second set, but Dublin proceeded to go on an 11-3 run to snatch a 17-9 lead and later close the set out 25-12.

The third set didn't get any better for Eastland as they once again scored first, but Dublin quickly took a 4-1 lead before a Lady Maverick timeout. In amazing fashion, the Dublin defense took care of the rest as they closed out their bi-district championship with a 25-4 win in the third set.

"Overall I thought the nerves got to us a bit early on," said Dublin head volleyball coach Ryan Lewis. "We have lot of returning players, but a few girls got a bit nervous, but overall we played well. We didn't do a good job pushing our passes at some points, if we do that well then we can really put it down and score some points. Once our defense stepped up then the hitters started pounding and that's when we got those much needed momentum swings."

Next up for the Lady Lions is the winner between the Sonora and Regan County.
