A pair of Saturday afternoon sweeps gave Tarleton State (5-3) a 3-1 mark in the Tarleton Invitational at Wisdom Gym South.

The TexAnns defeated Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) 25-16, 25-17, 25-20 then tripped up Southeastern Oklahoma State 25-15, 25-20, 25-18. They had previously split on opening day of the classic-style tournament Friday. William Jewell erased a 2-0 deficit in a 23-25, 17-25, 25-21, 25-17, 15-11 victory over Tarleton before the TexAnns beat New Mexico Highlands 12-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-23.

Katie Covell was the star hitter on Saturday, posting 12 kills and 10 digs against Ouachita Baptist and 10 kills against Southeastern Oklahoma.

Danielle Barker had 38 assists and 10 digs against OBU and 34 assists against SOSU a day after tallying 80 digs in two matches including a career-best 52 against William Jewell.

Nikki McNorton was big on Friday with 16 kills against William Jewell and 13 to go with seven blocks against New Mexico Highlands, the start of a three-game win streak by the TexAnns.

Covell (26) and Klein combined for 50 digs against William Jewell.

Tarleton takes its momentum into Lone Star Conference play Friday when the TexAnns host Midwestern State at 6 p.m.
