Stephenville High School's cross country teams placed first in the varsity girls division and second among the boys Wednesday in the annual Thrill of the Hill event at the Stephenville City Park.

Stephenville High School won the varsity girls division led by individual winner Amiah Rodriguez and the varsity boys placed second in their division Wednesday in the challenging Stephenville Thrill of the Hill cross country meet, held annually at the Stephenville City Park.

Rodriguez won the varsity girls division with a time of 21:09.90, ahead of Mineral Wells runner Destiny Flores (21:12.00). SHS teammate Lila Richards placed third.

For the SHS boys, Eduardo Juarez placed fourth among the varsity boys with a time of 17:52.20.

“I thought that both groups ran extremely well, especially considering how tough our course is,” SHS coach Beth Phelps said. “Our kids just go out and compete each week, (and) they want to get better.”

The next meet for the SHS teams is slated for Thursday in Hillsboro.
