SHS girls second place in Glen Rose powerlifting

The Stephenville High School girls powerlifting team earned second place in the Glen Rose Invitational Meet Thursday with Blaine Gluck leading the way as she was named the meet’s Girls Outstanding Lifter for the Lightweight Division.

The Honeybees notched 28 points as a team, five points behind the first-place Glen Rose girls with 33.

Both Cheney Carrillo and Gluck of Stephenville won their respective weight classes in the girls division for the Honeybess. Gluck, in the 105-pound class, won by lifting a total of 560 pounds during the meet.

Isaac DeLaCruz of Stephenville won first place in his 198-pound weight class in the boys division. Other Yellow Jackets who placed in the boys division were Carson Elston, third in his weight class, and Michael Felan, fifth.

Teammate Jessica Ebeling took second place in her girls weight class, while Kenzie Mayes, Abreyanna Ziegler and Norma Hernandez all took home third place in their divisions.

“Super proud of all our kids who competed tonight,” SHS powerlifting coach Eric Rivas stated. “Our boys competed well and posted improvements from previous meets. Overall we had a great meet and are excited to compete next Saturday (Feb. 17) at home.”

Glen Rose also won the boys division with 49 points, ahead of runner-up San Saba with 33 points. The Tigers were led by Dillon Graves of Glen Rose, named as the meet’s Boys Outstanding Lifter.
