Raven McGrath and Meagan O’Dell each poured in 15 points to pace the TexAnns in a 78-70 non-district victory over Texas Wesleyan Saturday.

The TexAnns, now 2-1, shot about 47 percent from the floor, including 50 percent from beyond the arc in the second half.

Tarleton started slowly, falling behind 11-4, but a three from McGrath knotted the score at 17-all about nine minutes into the opening half. McGrath banged home another trey a couple of minutes later, to give the TexAnns their first lead at 22-21.

The two teams battled back-and-forth, swapping the lead until an 11-0 run, topped when Karli Moore sank a leaner right before halftime to set TSU firmly in front at 38-26.

The Lady Rams fought back in the second half, shooting almost 52 percent, closing the margin to 55-52 with 7:34 remaining with a basket by Cheyenne Swoopes.

McGrath responded with a pair of threes sandwiched around a TWU basket plus one.

The lead grew to 12 at 75-63 with back-to-back buckets by Moore, who added a put-back with 13 seconds left to finish Tarleton’s scoring for the night.

Iwobi Ikpeaku added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the TexAnns and teammate Moore added 12 points and three assists.

The TexAnns hit the road after Thanksgiving for an appearance at the Lubbock Christian University Tournament, playing host LCU Friday at 7:30, then squaring off with UT Permian Basin on Saturday in a 5:30 game.
