SHS, Huckabay, Lingleville all in weekend hoops action
High School basketball starts in earnest this weekend with most area teams in action either Friday or Saturday.
Both Stephenville High School teams are in action Saturday. The Yellow Jackets, 0-1 after a 35-34 loss in their season opener on Tuesday, visit Springtown for freshmen, JV and varsity games, starting at 10 a.m.
The Honeybees, ranked No. 12 by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, are 1-0 after a last second 3-pointer from Breanna Woolley that helped edge Class 5A Aledo 41-38 on Tuesday. The ‘Bees freshmen and JV girls are at the Weatherford Tournament. The varsity is idle until a Monday matchup against Granbury.
Huckabay’s boys, ranked No. 13 by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, and girls take on Bellevue in a non-district matchup. The Indians are 0-1 after a season-opening loss to No. 5 Graford on Tuesday.
No. 21 Lingelville’s boys get their own shot at Graford this week as the Cardinals open the Graford tourney against the hosts.
Hico’s girls are at the San Saba Tournament.
Both Dublin and Hico are still in the UIL football playoffs, so their boys’ teams have not started basketball yet.
