Bees win pool, fall in bracket play
Henderson Junior High's seventh grade 'B' volleyball team won its pool but didn't place in the gold bracket at a recent tournament in Granbury.
The Honeybees The Bees defeated Crowley Stevens 15-7, 15-13 to pen pool play before splitting two sets with Brewer, 15-10, 16-18. It as right back in the win column in the poll finale against Granbury as the Bees won 15-2, 15-9.
A pair of Burleson schools ended Stephenville's perfect weekend as Burleson Kerr defetaed HJH 25-18, 25-7 and Burleson Hughes defeated the Bees 16-25, 25-19, 25-23.
Leading the Honeybees through the weekend was Sidney Boynton with 29 points made, nine aces on 43 made serves and five kills.
Carlene McCully and Sierra Martinez each racked up 18 points. McCully had 32 made serves, three aces and a kill while Martinez produced four aces and two kills while making 27 serves.
Madi Grimes and Kayli Castillo each made nine points ad 15 made serves. Castillo had three aces, a kill and a block while Grimes had an ace and four kills.
Karlie Hare made eight points, 18 serves and had two aces; Tatum Brinkly had seven points on eight made serves including an ace and also landed two kills; Ashton Garner registered five points, a kill and a block to go with 10 made serves; Macee Decker made four serves, three points, an ace and a kill; Kristen Pettit made six serves, two points and had a block; Natalie Elizondo finished with two serves and a point.
