Wright to fill local FSA executive director position
Tarleton State University graduate Dustin Wright is the Farm Service Agency’s new executive director for Erath County. Wright, whose first official day on the day will be July 22, was selected to fill the position that opened when longtime director Rusty Rose retired.
“I’m here to serve the farmers and ranchers of Erath County,” Wright said.
Wright, who will turn 33 in August, was born and raised in De Leon. He attended Ranger Junior College for two years, where he played baseball and was on the rodeo team. He majored in ag services and development at TSU, where he received a bachelor’s degree in 2009.
Wright moved to Stephenville in 2015, and has been serving as the FSA director for Bosque, Johnson and Tarrant counties, with his office located in Cleburne.
“I’m really big on customer service, and that’s what I’m here for,” Wright said. “I’m here to serve, and if people have questions or concerns, please contact me here.”
The FSA is a United States Department of Agriculture agency that supports farmers by offering loans, subsidies, payments, commodity price support and disaster relief.
“We have disaster programs, whether due to drought or low commodity prices. We have programs that will help,” Wright said.
Wright was first hired by the FSA in March 2010 as a program tech for farm loans.
“In October 2012 I got into county operations training to become a county executive director,” said Wright, who is married and has a 14-month-old son.
Wright will oversee five counties that are part of the FSA’s District 8 — Parker, Palo Pinto, Somervell, Hood and Erath. The Erath County FSA office has two full-time employees.
The number to reach the FSA office is 254-965-3715.
