SAN ANGELO, Texas (AP) — Officials say four San Angelo firefighters were taken to the hospital after part of a house that was on fire collapsed on them.

Assistant Fire Chief Scott Farris told the San Angelo Standard-Times (http://bit.ly/1NtCaBA ) that it was not yet clear what caused the Saturday afternoon fire. He says no one was living in the home, which was under construction.

Farris told the newspaper Saturday that the firefighters were struck by a falling "veneer structure."

The newspaper reports that details about the conditions of the firefighters and the extent of their injuries weren't available Saturday evening. Messages left by The Associated Press to the San Angelo fire department on Sunday were not immediately returned.
