Stay informed this storm season
As storm season approaches, here are some ways residents can stay informed when wild weather strikes.
Nixle program - The Stephenville Nixle program is managed by the Stephenville Police Department and gives live updates on weather watches and warnings for the area. The program is available online at local.nixle.com/city/tx/stephenville and mobile email and text alerts can be signed up for through the site.
Erath County CodeRed - Erath County CodeRed is an emergency alert system that residents can sign up for directly from the Erath County official website, co.erath.tx.us. Those who sign up can decide what type of alerts they get from flash floods to severe thunderstorms and tornado notifications through text and/or email. The website has a simple step-by-step sign up process at public.coderedweb.com.
Tarleton’s Code Purple - Code Purple is an emergency warning system used by Tarleton State University to notify students, faculty and staff via text and email in emergency situations. For more information, visit www.tarleton.edu/codepurple.
Local social media pages - The Empire-Tribune and Stephenville police and fire department's social media pages are also a good resource for weather information. Follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
