A non-profit organization that hosts one of the biggest cook-offs in the nation and donates to great causes is bringing an event to Melody Mountain Ranch at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 3.

Bacon Bash Texas is holding a goat roping event in Stephenville and is hoping to make it an annual fundraiser.

“We are really excited about having an event in Stephenville,” said event marketing director of The Moxie Room Callie Lubke. “We were looking to do something fun and put a spin on Bacon Bash and we’re really anticipating growing this into an annual event. So like the one in Cranfills Gap, but in Stephenville.”

There are sponsorship opportunities ranging from $250-$500 and entry into the roping is $20 per team.

Tickets will be $20 per vehicle at the gate and proceeds will benefit children with type 1 diabetes and the “Niki Warms the Cold” charity.

“Niki Warms the Cold is a charity born in memory of Cranfills Gap native, Niki Carlson, shortly after her unexpected death,” states the Bacon Bash Texas website. “Niki dreamed of keeping coats and blankets in her car to hand out to folks in need. (The charity) distributes coats and blankets to those in need across the state of Texas.”

Besides goat roping, the event will feature food, drinks and live music.
