The weekend is here and it’s going to be a cold one, but don’t let the chill in the air stop you from enjoying these area events. Make it a good one, and TGIF!

1. Jingle Bell Jog

Pull on those running shoes and help raise funds for a great cause at the Jingle Bell Jog event benefitting Texas Animal Protectors starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, at Optimist-Jaycee Park. Registration will be $15 for the 5K and $10 for a one-mile run with no pre-registration required. Santa will also be there for photo at $5 per family.

2. Breakfast with Santa!

Gather up the family and get over to Oakdale United Methodist Church (2675 W. Overhill Dr.) from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, for the Breakfast with Santa event. Free pancakes will be served up and free photos with Santa will be offered. For more information call 254-968-8870.

3. Vendors in the Ville and Santa

Check out some local vendors and finish up that Christmas shopping at the Vendors in the Ville and Santa event from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, at the La Quinta Inn & Suites (behind Chicken Express). Santa will be available for pictures and the event is free to attend. For more information visit the Vendors in the Ville Facebook page.

4. Christmas Chuckwagon event

Get your fur babies and come hungry to Pet Supplies Plus from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, for the Christmas Chuckwagon event benefiting Pets Are Worth Saving. A lunch of red beans and cornbread will be served up for a donation to P.A.W.S. and families, along with pets, can take pictures with Santa.

5. Alternative Gift Fair

Another fun shopping event is taking place from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, when the First United Methodist Church hosts an Alternative Gift Fair. Support Missions while also getting some unique Christmas gifts for family and friends. Lunch will be served by the United Methodist Women and carols will be sung.
