Halloween is finally upon us and with it comes the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce’s annual Safe Trick ‘R Treat event taking place from 5-7 p.m. Monday in downtown Stephenville.

Local businesses will line the courthouse square and hand out candy, toys and other Halloween treats to the more than 3,000 children expected to attend.

The event will also feature its annual costume contest and Fun Zone.

Lineup for the costume contest will begin at 5:45 p.m. in the downtown plaza.

“We will award five prizes per age group (with five different age groups),” the Chamber’s event page states. “Funniest, cutest, scariest, most creative and best homemade costume - plus an award for best group. The costume contest has been outstanding in years past and we expect it to be even bigger this year!”

The weather is expected to be unseasonably warm with highs in the mid 80s.
