The Stephenville City Council met Tuesday to interview former Granbury Financial Director and City Manager Wayne McKethan for the position of interim city administrator.

The Stephenville City Council met Tuesday night in closed session and after interviewing former Granbury Financial Director and City Manager, Wayne McKethan named him to serve as interim city administrator while an executive search is conducted to find a permanent replacement for Pat Bridges who left that post on Oct. 7.

“I want to make it very clear that maintaining a high level of standards and promoting continuity in our community’s government is our highest priority," Mayor Kenny Weldon said. "After interviewing Mr. McKethan tonight, we think he has all the right credentials to serve in this interim position and we are going to begin contract negotiations with him on this.

“However, we are going to ask Community Services Director Jeremy Allen to act as temporary city administrator starting Wednesday. He will be working with city secretary Cindy Stafford and others to do that for the next week or so while we work on a contract with Mr. McKethan.”

The vacancy was created when former City Administrator Pat Bridges - who had previously served as chief of police for Stephenville - left the administrator position to become assistant police chief at the University of Texas Arlington.

Some details from McKethan’s resume:

• Granbury financial director, six years

• Granbury city manager, approximately four years

• Certified public accountant

• 30 years in banking

• President, The Financial City Manager, LLC

The city council will meet again next Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Training Room to finalize the details of the contract with McKethan.
