The weekend is here with a variety of great events going on across the area. Make it a good one, and TGIF!

1. Children’s Day at Foster’s Home

Listen to success stories and past memories from former kids of Foster’s Home for Children at the free Children’s Day Celebration event from 12-2 p.m. Saturday at Foster’s Home gym. Those who attend will also get a tour of the campus. For more information contact Lacy Barton at 254-968-2143.

2. SHS Theatre presents: Romance is a Killer

Don’t miss a family-friendly murder mystery dinner and show when the Stephenville High School theatre department presents ‘Romance is a Killer’ at 6 p.m. Saturday in the Henderson Junior High cafetorium. Tickets can be purchased until 3:45 p.m. today at the SHS front desk, or until sold out, for $15 each. Ticket includes the show, dinner and dessert. See if you can discover who committed the crime.

3. Chris Kyle Memorial Patriot Shootout

Come out and pay tribute to the late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle and help raise funds for the American Valor Foundation at Gateway Archery’s Chris Kyle Memorial Patriot Shootout from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday at G.K. Lewallen Ranch, 568 County Rd. 390 in Stephenville. There will be a variety of classes offered with lunch provided by Hard Eight BBQ for a $40 entry fee.

4. Paint the Town event

A special Paint the Town event hosted by the Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the W.K. Gordon Center in Mingus. Participants will create their own masterpiece of the historic Thurber smokestack. Cost is $35 and includes all art supplies and snacks. 5. Patriot Day Golf Jam at Legends

Come out for some golf, a raffle, live music, dinner and more at the Inaugural Patriot Day Golf Jam benefiting Deputy Dustin Paulsen starting at 3 p.m. Sunday at Legends Country Club. Tickets for the golf scramble, cart, a raffle ticket and dinner are $50. For more information contact Creed Cahill at 254-595-1966.
