A United States Air Force technical sergeant who grew up in Lingleville was killed in a brutal stabbing the night of Jan. 23 that allegedly occurred outside of Rockin Rodeo, a club in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Zechariah ‘Zack’ Casagranda, 34, was a graduate of Lingleville High School and was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana. He had served 17 years in the Air Force and was the assistant NCO in charge of the 2nd Munitions Squadron line delivery.

“Basically he went out for the night with close friends and was stabbed in the parking lot,” said Jessica Parks, Casagranda's sister, who resides in Lingleville.

Benjamin Shaw, 21, has been charged with second degree murder.

Casagranda will be brought back to Lingleville Saturday for a memorial service at East End Cemetery.

“His troop was called Ammo and he was very proud to be a part of it,” Parks said. “He also looked forward to retiring and coming home to his wife and son. He’d started his own welding business.”

Parks added that her brother was about to do his fifth deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan.
