The weekend is here with a variety of happenings to enjoy. Make it a good one, and TGIF!

1. BBB Torch Award Celebration Mixer

2. Second annual book review and tasting tea

Enjoy a fun event for a good cause when the Gamma Zeta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma International hosts its 2nd annual book review and tasting tea to raise funds for women educator scholarships at 10 a.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Author Phyllis Clark Nichols will be speaking about her book, The Christmas Portrait, and a variety of food will be available. Tickets can be purchased for $10 from any Gamma Zeta member or by calling Cheryl Konz at 968-6164.

3. Region III High School Rodeo

Catch some rodeo action at the Texas High School Rodeo Association’s Region III event Saturday-Sunday at Lone Star Arena. For more information visit lonestararena.com or call 965-7981.

4. Catch up on Oscar nominated films

Start catching up on some films before the 2016 Oscars premiere on Feb. 28. The Big Short, Bridge of Spies, Brooklyn, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Martian, The Revenant, Room and Spotlight are all up for Best Picture along with many other films in a variety of categories. 5. Enjoy a warm, sunny Sunday

Though it will be chilly today and Saturday, the sun is suppose to be out in full-force Sunday warming up to a high of 70 degrees. Temps will drop back down during the week, so take advantage and enjoy a day at the park or go for a nice walk.
