FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A North Texas man has been sentenced to life in prison over the fatal stabbing of his former wife two weeks after their divorce became final.

John St. Angelo of Fort Worth was convicted of murder in the 2013 slaying of Suzanne Parsons of Hazlet at her real estate office. Jurors in Fort Worth on Friday ordered life behind bars for St. Angelo, who was arrested a day after the killing.

Investigators say Parsons had taken out a protective order against St. Angelo.

He must serve at least 30 years before being eligible for parole.
