Gearing up for a Ragin’ good time
Local celebrity waiters and the Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council are gearing up for the 13th Annual Ragin' Cajun event from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the Faith Lutheran Church gym.
The sold out event will have some New Orleans tunes by Jay-B and the Zydeco Posse; juicy crawfish, with a side of rice and beans; and bottomless drink cups for $10 each.
“I want to mention that the waiters, for those people who have not been before, are competing for tips,” said Julie Crouch, director of the CTFAC. Each waiter will dress up in costume and some will even play a character to get those tips.
This is the first year the event has sold out.
“Even before I worked at the arts council it was my favorite event that I tried to never miss,” she said. “It’s a fun night and I just love seeing everyone have a good time.”
A total of 18 waiter teams have been raising money for the event, among other things for CTFAC, since November 2014. So far, Chad and Lisa Jackson are in the lead with $7,210.
Other couples competing are Wayne and Stephanie Atchley, Blaine Baley and Mac McKinnon, Jody Lee and Sara Caudle, Paula Claunch and Jason King, LV and Emily Coffee, Cathy and Steve Erck, Jayton and Lacy Fair, Todd and Robin Fanning, Carey and Shanan Fowler, David and Sarah Hardin, Donna and Jessica Hendershot, Carline McCullough and Kelly Magin, Kyle and Jennifer McGregor, David Baskett and David Perez, Alfred and Melanie Taylor, Russell and Lisa Walker and Jeff and Jodi Weyers.
“The teams are competing for the amount of money raised for the event,” Crouch said. “These folks have been raising all kinds of money for the arts council in advance. We opened it up to whatever they wanted to get and they have been really trying to promote everything we do.”
So, for those attending, dress to impress, come hungry and don’t forget to tip your waiter.
