A registered sex offender is being held on a $100,000 bond for contributing marijuana to a minor.

Travis Stansell, 24, was arrested Monday night after allegedly supplying a 14-year-old girl with drugs.

The investigators who worked the case will not be named due to the ongoing investigation and at the request of the Erath County Sheriff's Office.

The investigation began late last week when the victim's mother went to the sheriff's office to report her daughter missing.

“(The mother) had possession of the 14-year-old’s cell phone and in that she had found explicit messages between a male named Travis and her daughter,” one of the investigators said.

The investigator requested permission to use the phone and the mother agreed. The other investigator struck up a conversation with Stansell from the cell phone, hinting that he wanted to buy drugs.

Stansell arrived a short time later at a gas station to make the drug transaction.

A search of Stansell’s vehicle led investigators to one gram of methamphetamine along with a substance they believe to be psilocybin, or mushrooms; the lab has not confirmed this.

If the test is positive, Stansell will also be charged with possession of a controlled substance, more than one gram, less than four grams; a third degree felony.

“He’s had a history of making contact with girls 13 to 14 yeas of age via Facebook or text messaging,” the investigator said. “This resulted in him being arrested for his first felony offense for online solicitation of a minor. We know of at least two minor females he has contacted, met and, by indications, provided controlled substances to.”

Stansell was charged with two counts of online solicitation of a minor and enticing a child in 2013 and indecency with a child in November 2014
