City hires new director of community services

The Stephenville City Council met in closed executive session Monday and voted to hire Jeremy Allen as the city’s new director of community services. Allen is currently serving as operations manager for the City of Cleburne Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The position has been vacant since the resignation in July of former director Drew Wells to take a similar position in Buda. As with directors of the other departments in city government including community development, fire, police, utilities, finance & administration, the director of community services serves directly under the city administrator. The primary functions of the department involve oversight of parks and recreation, senior citizens center, Splashville, the Bosque River Trail and the airport.

Alan, who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology from Fresno State University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix, has nine years of experience in recreation, community services, facility operations and program development for seniors. He is also a licensed pilot who is experienced in FAA rules and regulations.

Among his other accomplishments, Alan, who currently resides with his family in Cedar Hill, holds membership and certifications with the Texas Recreation and Parks Society, National Recreation and Parks Association, Texas Convention and Visitors Bureau, Texas Association of Venues and Facilities and is a certified pool operator.

Allen will begin his duties on Dec. 8 and will be formally introduced by Interim City Administrator Pat Bridges at the next city council meeting.
