Morgan Mill First UMC Food Pantry receives grant

The Food Pantry of Morgan Mill First United Methodist Church has been awarded a $2,500 Capacity Building Grant by Tarrant Area Food Bank toward the purchase and installation of shelving and a storage building. Morgan Mill UMC Food Pantry serves approximately 41 families per month.

The Morgan Mill Food Pantry was one of 15 Tarrant Area Food Bank partners in six counties to receive the grant. A total of $42,000 was awarded for the Food Bank partners to purchase such items as food-storage equipment, information technology, strategic planning services and resources needed to start a new program.

The Tarrant Area Food Bank Capacity Building Grants provide targeted support for organizational development to increase agencies' abilities to create, deliver, expand, evaluate and modify effective services, according to Lori Pope, agency relations manager.

Tarrant Area Food Bank depends on 300 hunger-relief charities in 13 counties to distribute emergency groceries and provide meals and snacks to community members in need.
