Residents driving down Washington Street Wednesday reported seeing a monster truck in front of Stephenville Performance Center. The Empire-Tribune went to investigate and discovered that "Straight Jacket" was there to help promote the Lone Star Monster Truck Nationals that will be held in Stephenville this weekend.

James Thurman, owner of Stephenville Performance Center, said the event will be held on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. The 281 Speedway will host the event and will be opening gates at 6 p.m. with a free pit party both nights from 6-7 p.m.

In addition to the monster trucks, attendees will also see freestyle motocross riders performing all types of tricks on their bikes and, for a small fee, there will be rides on "Alien Attack." The first 50 through the door get a free ride on the truck.

Advanced tickets are on sale at Stephenville Performance Center for $14 each through Saturday. Tickets will also be available at the gate for $16 per person, with youth tickets (4-12) for $10. Kids 3 and under get in free.
