Erath 4-H recently held their 38th Annual Awards Banquet at Newman Hall, where 4-H members and their families gathered to recognize the outstanding members who participated in 4-H contests and projects throughout the year.

The Friend of 4-H award was presented to Tractor Supply Company. The Tractor Supply store in Erath County has always been supportive of 4-H and in the spring raised $522,837 nationwide and $59,234 n Texas.

Bronze, Silver and Gold Star Award winners were also named. These awards are the highest awards a 4-H member can receive. The Bronze Star Award is given to 4-H members in the 9 to 11-year-old age group. In order to receive this award, the applicant must apply, set up a display representing their accomplishments, and go through an interview. The judges consider the display, along with the interview, to decide the winner. Allissa Adams and Morgan McKinzie are this year's winners.

The Silver Star Award is for the 12-14 year old age group and has a more detailed list of expectations. The winner of this year’s award was London Jones.

Gold Star Award is given to 4-H members at least 15 years old and who have been a member of 4-H for at least three years. To qualify for this award a 4-H member is required to complete a record book in the year that he/she is being considered. They also must have been involved with three different projects and have participated in leadership camps and workshops or have held leadership positions. This year, Morgan Cavitt and Kenna Faulkenberry were the Gold Star recipients. They will be invited to attend the District Gold Star Banquet in October.

New officers for 2012-13 were also installed. Kenna Faulkenberry will serve as chairman, Will Pettit is serving as 1st vice chairman, Laurie Tolboom will serve as 2nd vice chairman, and Victoria Saucedo will serve as secretary.
