It's not quite time for hot chocolate, spice cake and pumpkins just yet, but it's getting close.

Erath County residents were treated to a taste of fall when a cool front blew into the area Thursday accompanied with scattered showers that lingered into the weekend.

Though any amount of rain was welcomed, totals across the area were not significant. As of Friday morning, Stephenville had officially received .81 of an inch.

"This was our first rainfall for September," said local weather watcher Dr. Stuart Chilton. "The last time it rained was on August 26. The average amount of rain for September is 3.60 inches."

Cooler temperatures hovering in the mid 80s are expected for the first part of next week.
