Courtney Patton just wanted a bowl of taco soup Friday afternoon.

But when she went home on her lunch break, she got more than she could stomach.

A man was sleeping in her son's bed.

Patton said she arrived home for lunch about 12:45 p.m. and noticed the back door was open.

"I thought that was really weird," she said. "I went inside and called for the dog, but she didn't come."

Patton went inside and noticed the door to her son's bedroom was closed.

"I opened the door and my dog darted out," she said. "And there was a half-naked man sleeping in the bed."

Patton started screaming.

"I started screaming, 'What are you doing here? You're in the wrong house,'" she said. "He just rubbed his eyes and said, 'Really?'"

Patton ran outside and called 9-1-1.

A few minutes later, Patton said the man opened the front door wearing boxers and a pair of muddy socks, looked around, then went back inside.

He left out the back door.

Police arrived a short time later and stopped him as he made his way through a neighbor's yard.

The man was identified as Danny Duarte, 26, of Hico.

"He was extremely intoxicated," Lt. Doug McClammy said.

Duarte's clothes were found inside Patton's laundry room.

Patton said the incident has left her shaken.

"The man was drooling on my daughters ladybug pillow pet," she said. "That's going to give me nightmares for a while."
