Former sheriff’s captain charged with sexual assault
A longtime captain with the Erath County Sheriff’s Office turned himself in to authorities Thursday after a warrant for his arrest was issued.
Terrell Dickerson has been charged with sexually assaulting a female co-worker inside the sheriff's department. He is being represented by Stephenville attorney Shay Isham.
"There was an allegation made several weeks after the alleged incident took place," Isham said Thursday. "The victim alleges that (Dickerson) forcibly assaulted her and he denies that."
The case is being investigated by Texas Ranger Jim Holland. A district judge in Wise County issued the warrant for his arrest.
Dickerson turned himself in to authorities Thursday afternoon and bonded out a short time later.
Hood County District Attorney Rob Christian will serve as the special prosecutor.
Dickerson worked for the sheriff's office for 16 years, according to Sheriff Tommy Bryant.
He started as a deputy and had earned the rank of captain when the allegation was made.
Bryant said a female employee came to his office to make the complaint against Dickerson, and within 15 minutes, he was "relieved from his duties."
