Since beating incumbent State Representative Sid Miller in a July run-off election, J.D. Sheffield will return to Stephenville for the first time Friday.

The Republican nominee hopes to build bridges and garner support from Erath County voters before taking on Democrat and Dublin resident Bill Norris in November.

"We want to give Erath County residents an opportunity to get to know J.D. a little better," campaign manager Glenn Jeffers said Wednesday.

Sheffield will spend the day in Stephenville attending Coffee with Coach radio show at Barefoot Athletics and having lunch with several elected officials and other community leaders before the public meet and greet from 4-6 p.m. at Citibank.

Sheffield is a Gatesville resident who serves as medical director of Coryell Medical Center. He is the former chief of staff at Coryell Memorial Hospital.

"This is about the people of District 59," Jeffers said. "We want to start building relationships. We hope folks will come by and grab a soda and cookie and visit with J.D."
