After his senior year at Stephenville High School, Conner Schmutz will go on to pursue a career in auto work attending Texas State Technical College in Waco.

Stephenville High School senior Conner Schmutz is all about sports his last year in high school, but will soon trade that in for a major in automotive work.

Schmutz is a slot receiver for the Yellow Jacket varsity football team and plays left field on the baseball team.

“I’m hoping for a good season of football, putting some wins up,” he said. “And then going to the playoffs in baseball further than we did last year.”

After his senior year wraps up, Schmutz will attend Texas State Technical College in Waco and major in either auto-body or auto-mechanics.

“I’m into trucks. I drive a Dodge and all my buddies drive big trucks, so I like the environment; it’s just what I like to do,” he said.

His dream job is to open up his own shop in a city somewhere.

“Having a place you can go to and not just buy stock parts for your vehicle, but aftermarket big stuff like lifts, wheels and performance parts for your motor,” Schmutz said.

Schmutz said his senior year is off to a good start and he's having a lot of fun.

“I want to spend more time with my friends before we all separate and disperse to schools where we won’t see each other anymore,” he said. “Make good grades in all my classes and just have a fun year.”
