5th COVID-19 death reported in Erath County
County Local Health Authority Dr. Jeffrey Moore has confirmed a fifth COVID-19-related death in Erath County.
The victim is a male in his 70s who had been hospitalized in Fort Worth. No other details are available at this time.
“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to this man’s family and friends,” said Erath County Emergency Management Coordinator Susan Driskill. “This death serves as a very unfortunate reminder about the seriousness of our situation, as cases have been increasing dramatically. Our most vulnerable citizens, including the elderly and those with chronic health conditions, are especially at risk. We must continue to commit ourselves to fighting the spread of this virus and take seriously our responsibility to protect our loved ones and neighbors from this disease.”
There are eight new positive COVID-19 results for Aug. 6 – one in Stephenville and seven in the county.
Erath County is now reporting 431 total cases, 65 active, 361 recoveries and 20 hospitalizations.
A breakdown of the cases in each age group is listed below:
- 0-12 years – 26 cases
- 13-19 years – 39 cases
- 20-29 years – 125 cases
- 30-39 years – 51 cases
- 40-64 years – 130 cases
- 65+ years – 52 cases
- Unknown – 8 cases
There are 232 women and 199 men in Erath County with a positive test of COVID-19.
