SISD to offer free meals to all students starting Oct. 1
Effective Oct. 1, breakfast and lunch will be available to all students of Stephenville ISD.
“We’re very excited to be able to offer this,” said Mona Little, director of child nutrition. “Pre-K and K are already on a free program, but this allows Chamberlin through high school to also benefit.”
USDA passed a waiver providing funding for all students to receive free meals through Dec. 18, 2020 or until funding is depleted, whichever comes first.
The free meals are available to both face-to-face and virtual learning students.
Utilizing this opportunity for free breakfast and lunch until Christmas will allow parents to save $205 per student.
“It makes a big difference and we really would love for parents to be able to take advantage of this, even for students who don’t ordinarily have a lunch in the cafeteria. This is just a great opportunity to try something new,” Little said. “It’s a hectic time for parents, teachers, staff and students so this will just provide a little bit of relief.”
For virtual learning students, parents can contact Karoline Mantz at Chamberlin Elementary at 254-552-6630 to make arrangements to pick up weekly breakfast and lunch items for their child.
Parents and guardians can pay via www.myschoolbucks or by sending cash or check to school with their student.
Any meal changes incurred prior to Oct. 1 must be paid in full as soon as possible.
