In a battle of area teams, Lingleville was simply overpowered by the 2A Hico Lady Tigers as they stayed undefeated on the young season with a 3-0 sweep of the 1A Lady Cardinals.
Hico jumped out to an early lead after Taylor Streenz served up eight straight points, but her streak was ended when a Lady Tiger was called for a lift.
Following a Lingleville miscue, Hico tacked on five more before sending a kill shot out of bounds.
The Lady Tigers would commit two more errors leading to the Lady Cardinals' only other points of the set, giving the Lady Tigers a 25-4 win.
Lingleville bounced back early in game two, jumping out to a three-point lead on the strong serving of Kaydee Boeve.
Hico answered by reeling off four straight points, two of which came on Streenz aces.
Lingleville's Jayci Williams landed a kill shot to knot the score at 4-4 and break the Hico streak.
The teams would swap points to stay tied at 6-6, but Lady Tigers would not be denied.
The Lady Tigers responded with a 16-3 run on the strength of Cara Finstad, Cassi Stegall and Christina Sanchez kill shots, as well as blocking points by Finstad and Stegall.
The Lady Cardinals kept fighting late in the set by posting back-to-back points topped off by a rejection of a Hico kill shot.
But despite Lingleville's efforts, Hico would take the game three points later at 25-11.
In the final game, Streenz got hot from the service line again, reeling off 14 straight points before a kill shot went a shade too far, putting the Lady Cards on the board at 14-1.
The Lady Tigers went on to a 25-6 win and a 3-0 sweep to remain undefeated on the young season.
