The Tarleton TexAnn basketball team will sign autographs for fans on Tuesday, Nov. 24 following their game with Concordia at Wisdom Gym. Tip-off between the TexAnns and Tornadoes is set for 6 p.m.
The TexAnns are 3-0 on the season after picking up a pair of wins in Denton over the weekend. Tarleton's average margin of victory in two games at the DFW Marriott Champions Circle Pioneer Premeire was by 35.5 points after defeating Pittsburg State, 75-46, on Friday and Western New Mexico, 93-51, on Saturday.
Brittnie Haley is leading the TexAnns in scoring as she averages 14.7 points per contest. She is just a little more than a rebound short of averaging a double-double, coming into Tuesday's contest with a 8.7 boards per game average. The junior leads all players with a .667 shooting percentage and nine blocks as well.
Averaging 11.3 points per game and second on the team in scoring is JoAnne Jones. The senior is shooting 57.1 percent from the field and averages 6.3 rebounds per game. Jones has three blocks so far this season.
Sonya Sundberg leads the team with eight steals. She and Shelby Adamson are tied for the team lead with 11 assists.
The TexAnns are shooting 48.9 percent as a team from the field, including a 39.6 shooting percentage from the three-point line. Tarleton is out-rebounding its opponents 80-68 and has only given up 50 turnovers while forcing 84.
Tuesday's game against the TexAnns will be Concordia's first action of the 2009-10 season.
Tarleton leads the all-time series 9-3. The two teams have not faced each other in a regular-season game since Dec. 7, 1996. Concordia won the game 55-48 at a neutral site. Last season the two teams met in an exhibition game with Tarleton coming away with the victory, 75-26, at Wisdom Gym
