With all the ifs and buts finally sorted out, Stephenville now knows that its opponent in the bi-district round of the Class 4A volleyball playoffs will be Fort Worth Southwest.
It took a few extra days to determine, but after dropping a one-match playoff with FW O.D.Wyatt, Southwest (19-8) is the No. 3 seed out of District 7-4A. Stephenville finished second in 8-4A.
The Honeybees and Lady Raiders meet at 7 p.m. tonight in Granbury.
Southwest and O.D. Wyatt finished district play with matching 13-3 records, but Wyatt took the second seed with a four-set win in the playoff Tuesday, 25-21, 16-25, 25-19, 25-22.
The Lady Raiders have been led at the net this fall by Porschae Wynn, who averages over two kills per game.
Stephenville won six straight district matches to conclude its regular season, its second six-match win streak of the year.
It's not all roses in the Honeybee camp, however. SHS must overcome the 12 blocking errors and trouble in the service receive game that plagued the Bees in a three-set loss to Copperas Cove in a practice match Monday. Stephenville had not been swept in a match since before district action began.
The winner of the match goes on to face District 5-4A champ Denton Guyer in the next round.
Other representatives of 8-4A in the playoffs include Crowley and Aledo.
Crowley defeated Joshua in a third-place playoff Tuesday, and battles O.D. Wyatt in round one. As district champs, Aledo gets a free pass to the second round.
