It didn’t take long for Hico to get the bad taste of last week’s fourth quarter collapse against McGregor out of its mouth.
Drew Polk took the opening kickoff to the house and the Tigers cruised past Moody Friday night.
Hico held Moody to 42 yards of total offense and forced four turnovers in the 42-0 thrashing, evening its District 15-2A record at 1-1 while improving to 4-1 on the year.
Dylan Turner recovered two Moody fumbles and Jared Davis and Corey Softer scooped up one each.
Cody Collumns led the defensive effort with 13 tackles while Brett Willis added 12.
Polk and Alex Sikes added 11 tackles each.
The offensive effort was primarily a ground attack for the Tigers, but Sonny Morrow’s passing game was literally all or nothing.
Morrow threw two passes on the night. One fell incomplete and the other was good for a 51-yard touchdown pass to Willis.
Turner led the rushing attack with 122 yards and two scores on seven trips.
Polk went 66 yards and scored once on five carries while Sikes added 63 yards on nine trips.
Morrow added the final score with a one-yard scamper.
