Hico (2-1) shoots for its third straight win on the high school gridiron tonight as the Tigers hit the road to face the Lions of Blooming Grove.
“They have a good football team, and it's going to be a good test for us,” Hico Head Coach Wade Williams said.
Blooming Grove led most of the way over District 11-2A member Itasca last week, but surrendered a score in the last 20 seconds to fall, 21-19.
In comparing Blooming Grove to Hamilton, who gave Hico its only loss this season, Williams said, “Their a little more versaitile. Their backs are a little bigger, but I don't think they have as much overall team speed as Hamilton.”
Blooming Grove runs two different offensive packages, which concerns Williams because the defense must be ready for both.
Defensively, the Lions will base primarily out of a 4-3 look, but will jump into a prevent with only three down lineman when facing passing situations, according to Williams.
Blooming Grove edged Hico last fall, 21-20. Kickoff tonight is set for 7:30 p.m.
