CANYON - The Tarleton State TexAnns hit the road today for a tough game against the No. 16 West Texas A&M Lady Buffs.

Tip off is at 6 p.m.

The TexAnns are coming off a 62-66 loss to Texas Woman’s on Saturday, while WTAMU defeated Abilene Christian 62-50.

Tarleton is 9-4 overall and 2-1 in the Lone Star Conference South Division, while the Lady Buffs, who are ranked No. 16 in the WBCA poll, are 15-3 overall and 4-0 in conference.

The Lady Buffs are led by Emily Brister, who averages 21.1 points per game, best in the LSC.

The TexAnns are led by senior point guard Katie Crawford, who is hitting 40.3 percent of her 3-point attempts and averages 4.3 assists per game. Crawford and Krystal Cole each average 12.3 points per game.

JoAnne Jones continues to lead the TexAnns in rebounds with 6.4 per contest while Cole is second with 5.8. Brittnie Haley is the third leading scorer for the TexAnns with 8.2 per game.

Jones is No. 9 in the LSC in rebounding while Cole and Crawford are tied for 17th in scoring.

Crawford is tops in the LSC in free throw percentage (90.6) and second in assist/turnover ratio (1.70).

The TexAnns are shooting 41.4 percent from the floor, 30.6 from beyond the arc and 70.4 percent from the free throw line. Tarleton is also averaging 38.7 rebounds per game, 3.7 boards more than their opponents.

Tarleton leads the LSC in scoring defense and is second in scoring margin (+17.4) behind the Lady Buffs (+11.1). The TexAnns are also tops in the league in field goal percentage defense (.356) and three-point field goal percentage defense (.253).
