Tarleton State University has cracked the top 10 in at least one NCAA Division II national football poll.
The College Sports Report ranks the Texans No. 8 in the country after their 27-24 overtime defeat of NCAA Division I Subdivision Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches last week. Tarleton jumped nine spots since being ranked No. 17 in the previous poll, which can be found on the web at collegesportsreport.com.
Tarleton is now the highest-ranked Lone Star Conference team in the poll, one spot ahead of West Texas A&M, which upset South Dakota in its season opener last week, 55-45.
LSC South Division member Midwestern State is ranked No. 16, while Abilene Christian fell out of the top 25. ACU was shocked by Central Oklahoma Saturday, 27-17.
The D2football.com and American Football Coches Association polls are expected to be released today.
