Stephenville built a 2-1 lead, but host Arlington Seguin came back with dominating victories in games four and five for a 25-19, 23-25, 20-25, 25-16, 15-7 win to remain perfect in league play.
Seguin improved to 31-5 on the season and 8-0 in 8-4A, while Stephenville fell to 19-13 overall and is now tied with Granbury for third in the league at 5-3.
The Honeybees were led by Chrsitina Murphy’s double-double with 15 kills and 17 assists. Bailey Williams had 13 kills and Rachel Choate collected 18 assists offensively, while Mara Christian had 19 digs, Kensie Colegrove added 12 digs and Kaylee Davis posted four blocks on defense. Stephenville aced five serves but also missed five.
The Bees were shorthanded due to the absence of outside hitter Senna Lasater and defensive specialist Macy Moncrief. Both players missed due to illness, according to head coach Fran Metzger. Lindsey James and Gaby Chavarria started in their place, with Chavarria tallying 11 digs.
The Bees are on the road again Friday when they visit Joshua at 5:30 p.m. Stephenville won its first meeting with the Lady Owls in straight sets.
