STEPHENVILLE - The Tarleton volleyball team played three really hard games in Saturday's match-up against West Texas A&M. Despite their effort, the TexAnns fell to the Lady Buffs (3-0) in Lone Star Conference play.
The loss drops the TexAnns to 6-8 (1-1 LSC) on the season while the Lady Buffs improved to 11-5 (2-0 LSC).
WTAMU's defense may have been the key as the TexAnns dropped the first game of the match 32-30 before falling in the final two games, 30-24 and 30-26.
The TexAnns were only able to hit .108 as a team while WTAMU hit .235 for the match.
Overall, the TexAnns were led by Alisha Bourgo and Missy Castro who both had nine kills apiece. Bourgo also led the TexAnns in digs with 10. Susan Domine had 18 assists to lead the offense for Tarleton.
The Lady Buffs were led by Melissa Harper who had 20 kills on the day. Defensively, Laura Prinsen and Sara Contreras both had 14 digs to lead WTAMU, while Katie Rickwartz ran the offense for the Lady Buffs, collecting 36 assists.
The TexAnns will return to action this Thursday, Sept. 20 as they hit the road to take on Abilene Christian. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday in Abilene.
