Big games await the Stephenville Honeybees and Yellow Jackets tonight.
Though both the boys and girls are at the midway point of their district season, each team is in a near must-win situation versus Everman.
The Honeybees, who tip off at 6:30 p.m., will be looking for revenge against the Lady Bulldogs, who edged them in their previous meeting.
At 5-3 in District 8-4A, the Honeybees are tied for third place with Cleburne. Although they hold the head-to-head advantage, having beaten the Lady Yellow Jackets on their home floor last week, they need a win to create space and to help erase lingering memories of Tuesday’s 38-27 loss at Crowley.
The Yellow Jackets, meanwhile, need to snap their three-game district skid, but it isn’t going to be easy against the Bulldogs.
Stephenville must stop a tough trio of decorated seniors - Jonathan Sparks (6-1), first team all-district; Ryland Allen (6-2), district MVP; and Brodrick Walker (5-10), offensive MVP - all while regaining their long-distance shooting touch. The Yellow Jackets will need a lights-out performance to stay with the Bulldogs, whose lone district loss came at the hands of the high-flying Crowley Eagles.
The boys tip off at 8 p.m.
