Stephenville Athletic Booster Club President Kirby Stephens tabbed Friday night’s hamburger supper at the Stephenville-Weatherford scrimmage a great success, and by all indications, he is correct.
With the help of many businesses and individuals, SABC managed to feed more than 1,000 people at Memorial Stadium, including all members of both the Stephenville and Weatherford football programs.
“It was a great night for the booster club. Everything went off without a hitch,” Stephens said. “I can’t begin to express how much the booster club appreciates the help of all those who made this event possible.”
Many area business and some individuals helped contribute materials necessary for the supper, such as beef patties and hot dogs, buns, chips, cookies, drinks and more.
Stephens expressed appreciation for help from volunteers who cooked, handled cleanup duties, helped with the continuing membership drive and sold tickets for the supper, as well as to those who manned the merchandise trailer.
“I want to especially say a special ‘thank you’ to the H-E-B employees who were out there all evening serving more than 1,000 hamburgers and hot dogs to everyone from booster club members to Weatherford players. They did a wonderful job,” Stephens said. “I also want to thank the high school cheerleaders who gave up getting to see parts of the scrimmage so they could serve drinks.
“So many people pitched in,” he continued. “Without all the help this never could have been as successful as it turned out to be.”
