East Central (3-3) scored 12 unanswered points to end the first half then stretched it into a 23-3 run by the 18-minute mark of the second in a 104-88 defeat of Tarleton State (5-2) in Lone Star Conference crossover play at Kerr Arena in Ada, Okla. Saturday night.

East Central hit 16 of 26 three-point attempts - making the most shots from outside the arc ever allowed by Tarleton - and scored 63 points in the second half. Tarleton, on the other hand, hit just 2-16 from downtown.

The Texans, who were led by Donta Smith with 26 points on an 11-16 shooting performance, led by three late in the first half before ECU began its big run.

The Tigers were led by Denarius Darby with 25, while Wayne Andrews tallied 24 and Dontae Figgs scored 22. Maurice Abraham was also in double figures with 14.

Jeremiah Wilson had 15 points and nine rebounds for Tarleton while Chris Harrell scored 13 and grabbed eight boards. Smith had six rebounds to go with his big night offensively.

Tarleton returned to the court at Southeastern Oklahoma State in Durant, Okla. Monday night. A final score was not available at press time, but a full report will be published in the Wednesday edition of the Empire-Tribune.
