E-T Staff Report

Stephenville wasn’t the only District 8-4A power house taking on another traditionally strong opponent Friday night, and the Jackets weren’t the only members of the league to drop their season opener.

Everman, which entered the season ranked No. 4 in 4A according to the Associated Press, fell to Waxahachie 29-6. Oddly enough, reports from that game make it sound similar to Stephenville’s 56-3 regular season loss to Everman last year, in which the Bulldogs scored three defensive touchdowns. On Friday, Everman watched helplessly as Waxahachie returned a pair of fumbles for scores. The Bulldogs also gave up a special teams touchdown on the game’s opening kickoff.

Here’s a look at scores of games involving 8-4A teams in “week zero:”

Aledo 20, Stephenville 16

Waxahachie 29, Everman 6

Man. Timberview 30, Justin Northwest 14

Burleson 31, Arl. Seguin 20

Richland 21, Granbury 3

Keller Central 19, Man. Legacy 6
